Hear what the ears can’t hear
Nose and throat cause many ear troubles. An infection goes along the middle ear and causes temporary deafness. Blowing your nose too hard especially during an attack of cold may carry secretions to the middle ear along the Eustachian tube and cause infection. Sometimes the forceful blowing may even rupture the membrane which may in turn cause deafness. Infected tonsils may also cause temporary deafness. Various other infections cause inflammation of the inner ear causing pus discharges. When such conditions occur medical aid should be sought and no self-medication should be prescribed. Digging into ears is dangerous. It may injure the membrane.

Don't Sabotage Your Diet
I have always tried to keep my diet simple. But, it is not that easy as it sounds. It’s pretty tough to follow it regularly. There are innumerable factors that affect health. A lot more depends on the diet, and factors like stress and emotions also play an imperative role at the end of the day. For all those who want to have a healthy diet, I would suggest some green salads. They are always healthy and a little bit of dressing can make them palatable. Never indulge yourself with all soaking creamy dressings. Dressings like vinegar and yogurt would make your salad tasty, and would not sabotage your diet.

Soothe your mind
It took a lot of time for me to understand that meditation is actually the best possible way to attain peace of mind. I have been doing it for a past few weeks. I wake up early in the morning to keep the disturbances aloof, and get dressed in one of the most comfortable clothes that I have, and select a place that ensures me peace. After everything is set, I sit in a correct posture and start my meditation which makes me realize the inner tranquility and the quest for utmost peace. It is not just peace, but is much more than that. The challenges which I faced in the beginning are plenty. I just was not able to sit erect. It is common among most of the folks these days. It needs a lot of practice to do them. But I decided to put my entire heart and soul into it and was able to achieve it. I used support of some pillars during the early stages and it helped me gain rigidity. The numbers of distractions that I came across were plenty. But, early morning sessions were peaceful and I was able to overcome it. It certainly helped me to examine my ambition.

Reduce your eye strain

While reading, sit erect and hold the printed page not less than 32 cms from the eyes and perpendicular to the line of vision. Concentration is much easier in good light than in a poor light. Do not read while lying down. During reading look away and around the room at frequent intervals to rest the focusing muscles. Symptoms of eye strain may occur in other parts of the body also, e.g. repeated headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and twitching of the eyelids. General tired feeling may also be due to eye strain. If rest, outdoor exercise and treatment for general disorders fail to prevent eye strain, consult your health nurse or a competent eye specialist.

Personal health - Part 1
Every human being likes to enjoy his life to the fullest extent. Life can be enjoyed in real sense when one possesses good health. Good health depends on good person health practices. Among many other factors and conditions influencing the health of an individual and the community is the day-to-day activities of human beings in life. Personal health practices such as care of body, care of teeth, care of feet and nails, habits regarding eating, diet, exercise, sleeping, smoking and drinking can be called as personal hygiene. Negligence of these activities may affect our health. For example bad oral hygiene leads to dental caries, dirty nails may harbor germs that lead to worm infestation and intestinal troubles and lack of sleep leads to lack of concentration, drowsiness and inability to perform work with zeal and energy.

Relaxation and Sleep
Rest and relaxation are necessary to overcome the fatigue which results from daily activities. Strength is not built up unless activity is continued long enough to cause some fatigue. During rest fatigue disappears. Sleep is a state of partial unconsciousness from which one can be aroused to stimulus. Sleep is essential to a person as food, air and water for the normal functioning of the brain and other physiological activities. A growing child needs more sleep so that the energy can be directed to the process of growth. It is also during sleep one is able to recover from fatigue. When sleep sets in, body is completely at rest. All voluntary activities like locomotion and feeling are suspended.

Spot the Label for Health
Last time when you polished out a pocket of potato chips, what you felt? Were you trying to assure yourself saying that you dint gulp in much of calories? Are you trying to have false hopes that you had not consumed more than 20 grams of fat? Sometimes you may have to lurk away from the bar chocolate thinking about the amount of calories that it might impart. The solution that I would suggest you is that, you should be aware of the quantitative aspects of the food that you have got. This is available to people through the label where all the information about the amount of fat, carbohydrates, protein and other nutrients that might be present are available. This label would serve as a revelation for many who buy the products blindly from the supermarkets.

Fitness
Youngsters believe that they can build their body in a day are mistaken. It doesn’t work even if you just want to flaunt your body socially. It doesn’t happen in a single day. Most of the pumped up muscles that you gain during the exercise goes off in half-an hour. Many people stay different in their claim and they feel that wearing some tight t-shirts will help them flaunt their muscles, making many heads to turn towards them. It is very important to know that the weight that you put on is because of the overheating. If you are building muscles just to show off, you ought to be careful about it. Clean diet habit is required. Also one should have a good night’s sleep that will help you gain your serenity and mental balance.

Office exercises
Nowadays, city dwellers hardly find time to exercise. Hence I would like to suggest a few standing and sitting exercises that can be done at your office desk. Sit in a comfortable chair. Extend your arm in front, keep the palm facing upwards and hold the fingers with your other hand. Stay in position for 30 seconds and repeat the same for the other hand. This exercise would reduce tension in wrist and palm. Next, take your hands to your shoulders and push back the shoulders while keeping the elbows down. Hold in the same position for 20 seconds and release. Follow the same for five times. This exercise would reduce the tension in shoulders and upper back.

kid's health (Part 2)
3. Parents should be good role models with healthy eating habits in order to encourage their children follow them. Do not complain about food in front of children as it would make them unlike the item forever. Talk about the nutrients in different food items and explain their benefits. That would create a positive feeling about the food. 4. Do not force kids to consume food that they don’t like. I have seen most parents controlling their kids at the table. Do not control them at the table as it would make them less happy with the food and also with you. 5. If possible, involve kids in preparing meals. Let them do small and safer chores in kitchen as it would give way for them to learn more about the ingredients and preparation. Give them age-appropriate tasks. Follow these habits and share your experience with me. Have a nice day!

kid's health (Part 1)
Healthy eating habits ensure healthy body condition. Though it is difficult to follow smart eating habits in this juggling busy timetable, incorporating healthy eating habits would definitely lead to better living. In this post, I would like to share the best five healthy eating strategies for kids that should be followed in routine. 1. Nothing is as effective as having meals at regular time. Have meals with your family as it is a soothing ritual for all. Add more vegetables, fruits and grains in your diet while avoiding unhealthy junk foods. Lower your consumption of snacks and oily food. It is much healthier if you could avoid smoking, and drinking alcohol. 2. Serve a variety of healthy food. Younger ones are especially attracted to variety food and hence eat more. However, limit fast food items and fatty snacks.

Juxtapose your diet with these tips
Looking fit, slim and getting into stylish clothes is what many would love to do, but they shy away as they realize that they need to shed the extra pounds before donning such clothes. Here I would suggest you some tools to enhance your efforts to reduce body weight. One way to influence your intake of food is by hanging a mirror in the dining area. Looking at your mirror image can motivate you to adhere to the weight loss program. Prior to your meal, clean the kitchen clutter and wipe down the kitchen counters. The effort to clean up the kitchen and clearing the trash makes you stay focused and stick to the diet. These are some of the tips that can get one determined and focused on the diet plan. These tips would perhaps serve as a additional tool to enhance one’s efforts.

World at your feet

Keep your knees smooth by rubbing fresh lime juice on them occasionally. You could also massage them with a nourishing cream. If your heels crack due to excessive dryness or by the use of an alkaline soap, it can be treated by washing it at night with warm water and a mild soap. Any mild soap or antibacterial soap works fine. You can also scrub your feet with a long handle brush to do away with the dead cells. Also apply creams that are rich in glycerin and rose water. While giving yourself a pedicure, soak your tired feet alternatively in hot and cold water.

Diet for yoga
Generally the common people think that a special diet is needed for yoga. But that is not so. a pure vegetarian diet, which can be offered to god or a saint, suits a yogi the most. The diet based on fresh ripe fruits, vegetables, grains, seeds, milk, yoghurt, etc. is a natural diet. The food containing fish, flesh, fowl and eggs cannot be a natural diet because of two main objections. Firstly, it does not come first hand; secondly it violates the principle essential unity and oneness of all life. Hence a man who practices yoga regularly depends on plants and vegetables for their sustenance and energy. We eat the flesh of herbivorous animals like deer, hare, goat, sheep, etc. and never that of a lion, tiger, jackal or a hyena. Meat contains a high percentage of toxins and more proteins than our body requires. Animal protein contains too much uric acid to be very hard for the liver to digest. Meat eating is an obstruction in concentration and meditation. And it is also a fact on record that excess of protein cannot be stored away as we can store away excess of carbohydrates and fats. Too much of it also overtaxes the liver besides kidneys.

Must know exercises
These are some of the basic exercises that one should know to deal with.
For a Hamstring curl the following work out may prove good. Life face forward on the bench of the machine with your calves and ankles hooked below the padded roller. Use a weight that you will be comfortable with and will not put strain on your body or back. Curt your leg backward towards your posterior and you will feel a deep muscle burn in that group of muscles. Slowly, lower the legs back to the starting position and try to do 3 sets of 10-12 reps each. Try to make each movement to the fullest extension to get the maximum benefit. Allow it to drop back completely before beginning the next rep. do not use jerky quick movements and try to keep them smooth. Do not allow your posterior to lift off the bench as it takes away the effect on the hamstrings.
Hip stretch -1: lie on your back on the floor with one leg placed on the knee of the other leg. Place your hands behind the knee of the leg that is on the floor. Lift leg upwards towards your body, while pulling your legs with the hands. You will feel the stretched on the hips of your crossed leg. Repeat the same with the other leg.
Hip stretch -2: stand next to a table or bench, which is at hip level. Fold one leg and put it on the bench. Bend forward and put palms on the bench. Hold it for around 60 seconds and repeat the same with the other leg as well.
